Islip Arts Council will be giving Islip residents a glimpse of ocean life with their upcoming Under the Sea Light & Art Festival. Postponed due to the nor’easter, the new date for the free event will be on Oct. 10 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Islip Arts Council’s Gallery in the South Shore Mall.
Interactive lights will be accompanied by live music and glowing art installations to immerse attendees into the underwater atmosphere. The festival will feature projection-based and digital art as well throughout the gallery.
A night market featuring many different creatives and their works is going to be available for guests to visit. Vendors are welcome to sign up for the festival on the IAC’s website at isliparts.org. An open call for the gallery’s underwater art will help spotlight the work of artists in the area.
Surprise acts will also keep guests entertained amidst the art, music and lights and treats that will be served at the event. The underwater parade will commence inside the mall at 7 p.m. The IAC just asks for guests to come dressed for the parade if able, with an attire that matches the under-the-sea theme.
The council promises a night of family friendly fun, with the help of Artie the Glowing Octopus’s own experience at the event.
