The Town of Brookhaven proudly hosted its annual Women’s Recognition Awards program on Monday, March 23, celebrating exceptional women whose achievements and service have made a lasting impact on the community. The ceremony took place at the Brookhaven Town Hall auditorium and was emceed by News 12 Anchor Antoinette Biordi.
This year’s program honored more than a dozen women representing a wide range of fields, including medicine, law enforcement, the arts, science, and government. Each honoree was recognized for her leadership, dedication, and contributions to improving the lives of residents across Long Island.
Among the distinguished recipients was Islip Town supervisor Angie Carpenter, whose decades of public service have made her a respected figure in local government. Brookhaven Town supervisor Dan Panico praised Carpenter as “an icon of public service,” highlighting her long-standing commitment to effective, communityfocused leadership.
The event also marked a milestone for Brookhaven’s Women’s Services Division, which is celebrating its 40th year of serving the public. Since its founding, the division has worked to uplift women of distinction, provide essential services, and bring attention to the vital role women play in shaping the region’s civic and cultural landscape.
Supervisor Panico noted that the awards program continues to be a meaningful tradition for the town. “Recognizing the achievements of these remarkable women not only honors their work, but inspires future generations to lead, serve, and innovate,” he said.
