On Saturday, June 27, William Floyd High School proudly celebrated its 67th Commencement Ceremony, honoring approximately 800 graduates as they officially became the newest members of the William Floyd alumni family.
Surrounded by proud parents, family members and friends, the Class of 2026 crossed the stage to receive their high school diplomas during a memorable ceremony that marked the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony was livestreamed.
The ceremony began with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Student Government president Matthew Danielsen, followed by the Presentation of Colors by the William Floyd High School NJROTC under the leadership of Senior Chief Andrew DiDonato.
The graduating seniors of the William Floyd High School Chorus, under the direction of Donia Rivera, then performed a moving rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Graduates also heard inspiring remarks from valedictorian Hannah Schultzer and salutatorian Jordan Hua. Additional addresses were delivered by Board of Education president April Coppola, superintendent of schools Kevin M. Coster, William Floyd High School principal Philip Scotto and Floyd Academy principal John DeBenedetto.
During the ceremony, Coppola also recognized members of the Class of 2026 who have chosen to serve our country by enlisting in the United States Armed Forces.
Also, the Mastic Fire Department and the Mastic Beach Fire Department displayed a large American flag behind the commencement stage.
Congratulations to the William Floyd High School Class of 2026! We are incredibly proud of your accomplishments and look forward to seeing all that you achieve in the years ahead. “Once a Colonial, Always a Colonial!”
