Posted

Sayville won their second-consecutive road contest at Shoreham-Wading River last Friday. The Golden Flashes downed the Wildcats, 34-0, in their second-consecutive shutout and fourth in five games as they stand tall at 5-0 in Suffolk County Division IV.

Frankie Hanley slung an 11-yard laser to Colin Darling ensued by a Matthew Damone extra point and it was 7-0. Hanley pelted a 28-yard touchdown toss to Saad Abid for a two-possession game.

Cole Canterella found his way into the end zone twice on a rushing touchdown for 12 yards, then a one-yard touchdown scamper followed by successful PAT’s by Damone. Connor Batterberry churned eight yards to cross the plane for six points. Liam Toomey intercepted a Shoreham-Wading River pass for the doughty defense of the Golden Flashes.

Sayville led 13-0 at the end of the first period, then 27-0 at the half. Hanley threw for 105 yards and rushed for 56, Batterberry ran for 101 yards, while Canterella ran for 46, and Darling reeled in four passes totaling 48 yards as Sayville kept their unblemished record intact.

Friday night, Oct. 16, two powerhouses and nearest geographic adversaries, Sayville and Bayport-Blue Point, will duke it out on Greeley Avenue in a Division IV clash of the titans.
