From pirates to ghouls, themed boats paraded around the Connetquot River for the Oakdale and Great River communities’ annual Halloween Boat Parade and Grucci Fireworks show.
Clear skies and cool air provided an ample backdrop to the night’s revelry, with families lining the shore at parks and businesses including the Snapper Inn, View Restaurant, Oakdale Yacht Club, and The Wharf. About a dozen vessels paraded through the Connetquot River.
Families cheered as each boat passed by and blared its horns, or in the case of the 18-person party boat, Fire Island Tiki, threw candy to kids ashore.
After the parade, a show provided by Grucci Fireworks took place near The Snapper Inn, and a costume party with live music by the band In The Groove commenced at the Oakdale Yacht Club.
Some individuals and families that lined the Connetquot River during the parade described the scene as a “perfect” night, from the weather, to the festive boats, and later fireworks.
