Amazing athletic achievement was on the agenda at the East Islip School District’s April 16 board of education meeting, honoring East Islip High School’s champion ice hockey players and swimmers.
First, four members of the combined Connetquot/East Islip boys varsity swimming and diving team—Brayden Black, Carter Jones, Jack Milligan and Max Schwalm—were recognized for winning second place overall in the Suffolk County League 1 championships.
Next, the 2023-2024 East Islip Chiefs varsity ice hockey team was recognized for winning their first ever state title and coming in second at the USA Hockey High School Division II National Championship. Team members include captains Ryan Anatra and Thomas Ivers and players Brody Dickson, Jack Dolson, Liam Godbout, Luke LaFata, Evan LaFata, Christopher Lawlor, Anthony Marazzito, Jack McGarry and Corey McGovern.
