Homecoming is not just for local high schools to celebrate their school spirit, but also a good time for the surrounding community to get involved. Be sure to catch your local event:

WILLIAM FLOYD

William Floyd High School has their home coming scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21 with a “Movie Premiere” theme. The parade will be held that day with a kickoff at 11:15 a.m., marching to the Lincoln Avenue Sports Complex. Homecoming royalty will be crowned at noon on the football field. The game will then take place with William Floyd vs. Walt Whitman at 1 p.m.

PATCHOGUE-MEDFORD

Patchogue-Medford will be hosting their homecoming on Oct. 14 with a music genres theme. The kickoff to homecoming begins with the Raider Bowl, also known as the Battle of the Classes, on Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. Homecoming competitions will include class shirt designs, bulletins boards and float week, which will take place from Oct. 9–13. The parade will take place on Main Street on Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m. That day, skits will take place at 1:15 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The homecoming court presentation and announcement of homecoming winners will take place at 3:45 p.m. at Raider Stadium. The football game will begin at 4:15 p.m. at the stadium.

SOUTH COUNTRY

Bellport High School’s homecoming will kick off on Friday, Oct. 5, with a home volleyball game against West Babylon at 5:45 p.m.  The theme of the floats and the dance this year is “Decades.” Class of 2024 is 1970; Class of 2025 is 1980; Class of 2026 is 1990; Class of 2027 is 1920.
Float building will continue the tradition of building in the high school parking lot from 6 - 9 p.m., and the floats will go to Central Office for the night on Oct. 6. The parade will begin, Saturday Oct. 7,  from Bellport Middle School at 11 a.m. and go through the village, ending at Brown’s Lane, with the floats continuing to the high school.
The courts will be voted on with the king and queen chosen by the whole school and revealed during the football halftime on Oct. 7.
The Spirit Days leading up to the pep rally on Friday, Oct. 6 are:

Monday - Hawaiian Day

Tuesday - Barbie World (wear pink - and it’s October, so they'll sell pink Breast Cancer awareness bracelets)
Wednesday - Dress as your Class Decade Day

Thursday - Throwback Jersey Day

Friday - Class Color Day (Srs. Red, Jrs. Blue, Sophs. Pink, Frosh Purple)
